An industry veteran with over 20 years experience, Michael's entire professional career has been in the sports and entertainment business.  He started his career in 1996 in the music entertainment as an international music A&R and execuitve producer for the global conglomerate LG Group's entertainment affiliate LG Media negotiating licensing contracts with international record labels and setting marketing & PR strategies for their artists.  As a founding member of then newly created VOLT rock music label, Michael recruited rock bands such as Sahara and Game Over, and was successful in securing Sahara a licensing deal with Japan's Teichiku Records, one of the first export licensing deals ever signed by any Korean metal band.

After brief stints as a concert promoter for Baroque Theater and an album critic for the jazz/classical publication Record Forum, Michael was recruited by IMG in 1999 as the PR/Client manager in Seoul for the legendary Se Ri Pak.  It was during this time that he started working with Korea's top golfers KJ Choi and Wooksoon Kang as well as handling tennis, baseball, basketball athletes.  Although client management was at the core of his responsibilities, Michael doubled his duties as an event operations executive, running the Hyundai Alpine Ski Championship and Ironman Triathlon Korea.  

In 2001, as Se Ri Pak and KJ Choi were re-writing Korea's golf history and reaching stardom status domestically & globally, Michael transferred to IMG's headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio to closely work with Se Ri and KJ, while also being given the responsibility of recruiting top professional golfers with focus on Asia & Korea region.  From 2001 to 2008, Michael was instrumental in growing IMG North America's Asian golf clientele to include K.J. Choi, Y.E. Yang, Ted Oh, James Oh, Han Lee, Sung Man Lee, Se Ri Pak, Jung Yeon Lee, Sunny Lee, Ji-Young Oh, and Jane Park, while working simultaneously with team sports clients such as baseball's Sang Hoon Lee (MLB - Boston Redsox, Oakland A's), basketball's Sung Yoon Bang (NBDL - Roanoke) and figure skater Yuna Kim.  During this period, under Yim's management, IMG dominated the Korean/Asian player representation in the golf industry.

In 2008, Michael moved to Dallas to work in close proximity with KJ and IMG's strong stable of Korean male golf clients which also included Y.E. Yang, Danny Lee, D.H. Lee, and K.T. Kim.  In 2013, Yim shifted his focus to women's golf to work with up and coming national stars such as Thailand's Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn, and China's Shanshan Feng.  In Dec 2013, Michael made a key signing for IMG by inking the golfing prodigy and phenom Lydia Ko for global representation.  During his tenure as Lydia's agent, Michael put together an impressive portfolio of international sponsors, including negotiating the largest single endorsement deal in women's golf.

Since relocating back to Cleveland in 2016 until his departure from IMG in 2020, Michael has represented some of the biggest personalities and talents in women's golf including Minjee Lee, Danielle Kang, Su Oh, Ginger Howard, Annie Park, Angel Yin, Muni He, Patty Tavatanakit, Jiwon Jeon, and Yaeeun Hong.  He also was instrumental in securing lucrative deals with global companies and brands for Nelly Korda and Charley Hull.
